Jan 2010 Well we are starting out with a BANG!!! Introducing New Champion Ch. Ryuu No Gen Go Shun You Kensha. Stewie went to 4 days of the very highly competative Portland Circuit where it takes the highest numbers in the country to build majors. Stewie was a resounding Winners Dog and Best of Winners all 4 days for 3 more major wins! Stewie completed his championship in 2 full weekends of showing including the national never placing lower than reserve to one other dog. Judges were exceptionally complimentary to this boy both inside and outside of the ring and we were told by the judge Stewie was heavily considered for Best of breed 2 of the 4 days! Not bad for a dog who is not yet 2 years old! Stewie i the son of Ch. HiTorq's Simply Extravagant (Travis) Not to be outdone SanJo's In Living Color ROM(MeMe) was Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite Sunday! She was reserve to the majors on the other three days. Not bad considering I was winning with a dog the same weekend and it is hard to win both sides of the points in this kind of competition. MeMe is 7 years young and showed like a puppy! We have held back showing this sesame girl but have been dutifully scolded into completing her championship LOL! And last but not least we are welcoming a new addition at HiTorq...Brittany (aka Bratney)...look for photos of this stunning puppy in the near future...she is guaranteed to knock your socks off!!! |

What A special year for the girls. Youmee is also #5 All Breed rankings with the combined sexes. In a year where there were 4 top 20 girls (3 of which were in the top 10) it was special to have her come out on top. 12/10/09 Haven't updated for awhile due to far too much Christmas activity! But what a wind down for the season it has been. Youmee won several more breeds at the following shows Salisbury MD KC judge Ms Joan Scott; 3 Best of Breeds at the competative West Springfield cluster Thank you Judith Daniels,Sandra Goose Allen, and Everette Dean. This weekend allows Youmee to top the 60 mark for individual judges who have rewarded her a best of breed win! Many thanks to shiba breeder judge/2007 National judge Ms. Pat Hastings for all your kind words about the quality of this girl and Ms. Toddie Clark who never seems to miss the showmanship of thtis girl even in top competition! What a great year. Youmee officially finishes a AMERICA'S NUMBER 1 SHIBA INU BITCH (ALL BREED)!!!! Meanwhile not to be outdone, Jiro (AOM CH. HiTorq's Jiro of Sullo) is coming ever so much closer to adding some new letters after his name. Congrats to Jiro's 7th champion offspring Ch. Sullo's Akai of Greenwood. Akai is also a grandson of Dozer (Ch. HiTorq's At Fever Pitch) and a twice Sammy (Ch. Tominohisamisu Go Gold Typhoon JP ROM) grandson. Kudos to the success breeder Cheri Sullo has created with these two studs. We are proud( from the sidelines of course)to see that these offspring are not just successful, but prove the health of the line from which they eminate. We are so fortunate to have received one of Mr. Tomimoto's finest stud dogs from the original line of dogs that made him famous when we obtained Sammy! Sammy kids and grandkids have dozens of specialty wins and top ranked offspring proving time and again they have what it takes! Many thanks to the breeders who have made this possible and have cared for this special line! Kudos also to my dear old girl Cha Cha ()..as she continues to add to her string of champion offspring while she herself was hanging and running on the beach in North Carolina for a vacation away from the hustle and bustle of washington DC in classic retirement style with the win of daughter Copperdots Jade of Okan at Chambersberg kennel club winning winners bitch and best of breed (no champions competing) over her kennel mates from Rodel and Riverwind for 2 points! It is obvious what an impact my cha cha girls (Pandy/ Shimi/ Destiny) have had and will have in the future ...why wouldn't every one want to have one just like us ;-P One last shout out to Bonnie Gibbons of Katai Shibas on her Dozer Daughter Mimi for winning a recent spine tingling Group 1 puppy and puppy group 3 on one of her final show weekends of the season. This young girl promises to dazzle and delight as she matures! Great job Bonnie..you should be proud! HiTorq is taking a break from the show ring for a few months to play with some puppies and pick our next generation...watch for exciting new litters this winter/spring from BISS Ch. 10/12/09 Our National Specialty Results For HiTorq Dogs and Offspring! We were strong! Many thanks to Ms. Jean Fournier who recognizes the value of a moderate shiba as the standard calls for, Mr. Randy Garren who was so consistant in all of his class animal choices and was so pleasant and knowledgeable, and Mr James Fredrickson who really kept me on my toes, likes a structures dog with good breed type...a pleasurable man indeed! It was a pleasure to show under judges who have clearly put time into knowing our standard and the nuances so necessary to recognize good shiba type! BISS/AOM Ch. SanJo She's On Fire!!Youmee won Best of Opposite Sex 2009 National Shiba Club of America also BOS at the two regional Specialties the day before and day after in one of the largest bitch entries every seen at a national! She showed beautifully and drew many fans...We were so proud of how Carol Collins presented her...it was breathtaking to watch! Ryuu No Gen Go Shun You Kensha WINNERS DOG 2009 National Shiba Club of America over some really tough competition!! We prepared Stewie for months prior to this show and were just so stinkin proud that he pulled off such a dramatic win. Ms. Fournier was full of unending praise for the quality of this young dog! Stewie was also RWD at the Regional Specialty the day before! This was only Stewie's second weekend in the ring (the first time he was Best In Sweeps at the Blue and Grey Regional Specialty) HiTorq's Cover Girl Barbie was in the ribbons all weekend long in a tough open bitch class and RWB the last day at the Regional Specialty to a 5 point major...She will grab that last point soon and will show her prowess in the welping box in the next few months...can't wait to see the next generation! San Jo's The Candi Man Heath was also in the ribbons all weekend long and made a huge play for the points against his half brother SanJo's Juicy Gossip for the major at the Regional Specialty. In the end Heath was a resounding RWD at the Regional...Nice job for this young dog! He will factor heavily into the future of HiTorq! Thank you Joe Morrow for the time you spent loving this boy and conditioning him! Ch. HiTorq's Jiro of Sullo won a very competative stud dog class against some high profile stud dogs! Barbie helped her dad to this win :-) Jiro at 7 years of age also made it to the final cut of dogs at the National Specialty. Jiro's Son Sullo's Akai of Greenwood was Best Bred by male all three days!!! Ch. HiTorq's At Fever Pitch made a strong showing in his offspring as baby MiMi (Katai's Screaming MiMi) bred by Katai Shibas won RWB from the 9-12 month class at the Regional on Friday and BOS in sweeps at the 2009 National Shiba Club of America. We were also so proud of Katai's Trouble with a Capital T...watch for this boy to shine in the near future! Kudos to Lynda Birmantis and Bonnie Jean Gibbons for jobs well done with these future stars! Congrats to Charleen Maxim on her handsome homebred Jiro son (Ch. Cape Cod's Native Son) who proudly displayed his style and class in the 2008 Top Twenty Event. Watch for her beautiful daughter out of Native Son.. Cape Cod's Heaven Sent...she is a true winner! Kudos to New Ch. SanJo's Juicy Gossip...we knew he was a winner the first time we laid eyes on him as a puppy! This young star has a planned breeding with Ch. HiTorq's Trix of the Trade...a stellar combo in our minds...and HUGE congrats to Youmee's father Ch. Kairi Go Ryukyuu Uruma ROM for his Best Veteran win and Award of Merit from the Veterans class...while others try to lay claim to Youmee's stellar beauty and breeding...one look at her standing beside her sire LeeRoy...and we know she is most definitely her father's daughter...Kudos for Leslie Ann Engen who showed her breeding talent is what put these winners in the ring...and we are proud she has given us the opportunity to found our program on such quality! We look to the future with a smile! |
10/02/09 Check out Jesse ! Another awesome maturing Fujinogen offspring owned by Marcia and Mike Broussard. Also check out updated pictures of Trixie! Another HiTorq owned producer Cha Cha (Izumnohana Go Imizu Hashimotosou ROM) is listed as one of 2008 top producers! Way to go girl hope you are enjoying your retirement! Cha Cha is one of three ROM producers for HiTorq! HiTorq Shibas rarely exceeds 2 litters per year...we do not have to have tons of puppies to produce and select quality shibas for the future! |
9/27/2009 Another big weekend for us. Youmee adds yet more letters to her name int he form of titles by winning an Award of Merit at the Greater NY Shiba Specialty Many Thanks to Mrs. Lyne for this honor! Another Hitorq standout also adds an Award of Merit to his titltes the same day Ch. HiTorq's Jiro of Sullo dusted off his show leash and showed them all how the mature set parties :-) Welcome back to the ring you handsome man! Many congrats to Bonnie Jean Gibbon and Lynda Birmantis as they debuted a youngster out of Dozer (Ch. HiTorq's At Fever Pitch). Katai's Trouble with a T garnered a puppy Group 1 on Sat amongst some tough puppy competitio and then went on to take his first points ...A MAJOR!! on Sunday! Way to goe guys...yoou should be proud of your home breeding Bonnie! Also another brag we almost forgot about...Another Sammy (Ch. Tominohisamitsu Go Gold Typhon JP) son passes his hip xrays with an OFA EXCELLENT!!! Tank is owned and cared for by Mark and Deb Peterson. We are always proud of in the ring accomplishments...but we are also so proud to see healthy offspring coming out and making an impact in other's breeding programs! While others are bragging that they are importing the best Japanese dogs...we have had generations of a breeding program carefully built off of some of the top Japanese imports...in my mind top dogs are not formed by show wins...they are formed by their impact to breeding programs. We are proud of our Yuichi Tomimoto imports Ch. Tominohisamisu Go Gold Typhoon JP with 16 champions and counting, uncountable champion grandchildren and many specialty winning kids and grandkids Wakou Go Gold Typhoon JP with his specialty and national specialty winning kids and more on the way..and of course Fujinogen with his multiple titled offspring. These dogs aren't all talk and hype...they instead have made an impact far outside of any show ring! |
since we are comparing notes here are some facts :-) Youmee has been shown 93 times. She has won BOB 59 times (that is a 65% succcess rate)Of her 59 wins...55 of them are under different judges. That is better than 95 % percent of her wins are under different judges!!!!!All of her 12 group placements are under different judges...8 of those placements happened this year alone...proving yet again we do not have to follow judges for points or placements. This year Youmee was shown 54 times. She won BOB 34 times and of the 34 Best of Breed wins, 30 of them were over one or more of the top 4 dogs in the country. With one of the wins being a best in specialty over multiple nationally ranked dogs and bitches. Talk about ranking a bitch the hard way! In the end we are proud of the job Carol and Dennis Collins have done with Youmee in ranking this beautiful girl under a diverse group of judges and without cashing in favors, playing political games, or facebook friending our upcoming judges.. I am just glad this girl wins em the old fashioned way...because she is a nice example of the standard and that there are a great group of judges out there that choose dogs based on the standard and not pressures! thank you to all the judges who have recognized Youmee "just because".. |
| 9/12/09 Youmee wins Best Of Breed over two top 5 specials and onto another group 2 at Lehigh/Berks weekend under judge Mr. Krough who also commented to her handler that she was an "outstanding shiba bitch". Nice weekend girls! |
9/10/09 Youmee wins Best Of Breed at Pocano Mt KC under Mr. RJ Moore and onto another Group 4 under Mr. Michael Wood. Congrats to her great grandpa Ban for BOS. To date ALL of Youmee's group placements have been under different judges! |
| 8/30/09 Youmee wins Best of Breed at Sussex County KC and Schooley Mountain KC |
| 8/27/09 Congrats to Wakou Go Gold Typhoon JP (Nitro) on winning WD/BW for two points in Lexington not bad for a black and tan at the tender age of 8 years old!!! Go Laura! |
8/22/09 Youmee wins two more Best of Breeds. Thanks to Mr. Gerard Penta and Mr. Kirkland who mark the 52nd and 53rd judges that have awarded her. End of July statistics still have Youmee as the number 1 shiba inu female (all breed) !!! Congrats to Youmee's Great grandfather who won his 7th group 1 Ban has won Group 1 under the following judges: 2 times under Rita Hollaway (3rd group placement by Rita ). 2 times under Ray Filburn. William Usherwood (2nd win under Usherwood ( Ban's BIS was awarded by him) and Roger Hartinger and Marjorie Tuff. Ban has 9 group placements total this year. Guess when he wins group placements he only does them big!
|
8/7/09 Youmee wins another Best of Breed at the Harrisburg summer cluster under her 51st judge. Many thanks to Ms. Esther Joseph of Australia for recognizing our girl!Congrats to all the weekend's winners ..it is always fun for the young new specials to snag one from the old timers LOL!! Shows there is promise for future young stars! Jeff and I are recoveing from a long fun filled road trip to Colorado and thrilled with my new Mini cooper! The shibas and the labradoodle have already laid claim to the sunroof! |
7/25/09 Another great weekend for Youmee! Two more Best of Breed wins under two more judges who have never judged her before and over multiple top 10 contenders. Many thanks to Mr. Jeavors and James G Reynolds for Best of Breed wins at Lackawanna KC Friday and Sat. With Youmee's campaign this year we have been showing her to a diverse group of judges as we see no value ranking a dog by gaining wins under the same small group of judges. To date Youmee has won top honors from almost 50 different judges. In the true spirit of the sport, campaigning a champion dog was a way for a large number of judges to see a quality example of the beed in an effort to keep breed standards solid even when judging younger class animals...not just some brag session about gaining high points and a top status. Sadly campaigning dogs has become more about the owners than about the breed. Kudos again to Leslie Ann Engen of SanJo kennels who had the foresight and understanding of her lines to create a fabulous bitch that represented generations of her own carefully planned out breeding program and has more to do about ALL of the dogs in her pedigree. |
7/18/09 Youmee does it again!!! At Nita Nee KC Youmee wins BOB and goes onto a Group 2 under Dr. Michael Manning!! Excellent win under a noteworthy movement judge. Youmee continues to prove that she can win under a diverse group of judges in an effort to solidify her status as one of America's top dogs. Youmee wins Best of Breed under Ms. Marcie Dobkins on Sunday too! A LARGE ROUND OF APPLAUSE for Teri Palumbo and Trixie. Trixie is now Ch. HiTorq's Trix of the Trade by winning WB at Nita Nee KC under Dr. Michael Manning and WB on Sunday under Ms Marcie Dobkins! Trixie is MeMe's (SanJo's In Living Color) 4 th champion from her first litter and the second champion this year for MeMe.. MeMe is now honored with an ROM (register of Merit ) Title. She is the second shiba at HiTorq to obtain this title in a limited breeding program with a couple of more on the way (Jiro with 6 champions and Dozer with 5).. We are so incredibly proud of everyone who made this possible. Watch for MeMe's last litter with Wakou Go Gold Typhoon JP (Nitro). The breeding will be due middle of september. This is a dynamite line breeding on Ch. Gyuryuku Go Ryukyu Uruma (ryu) and black and tans are expected. We saved the best for last with this girl :-) Trixie also brings her sire; our handsome boy, Sammy (Ch. Tominohisamitsu Go Gold typhoon JP ROM) to the mark of 16 champions and counting. |
7/5/09 Youmee wins BOB on Friday in the 4th of July cluster in MD under Randy Garren...She had to take two days off because she hurt her foot but she came back with a vengence today to win BOB and a group 3 under Doris Cozart!!! Thanks Dennis for taking such good care of our girl! As a side note Youmee also won BOB and a Group 1 on the Infodog Virtual Dog show with Dozer taking BOS over some tough competition! We are very proud of our kids in the real ring and in the virtual ring! Big congrats to Mouse who is now America AND Canadian Ch. HiTorq's Napoleon Dynamite!!! Congrats to his mommy Ann Gorman and Chris Edwards on a wonderful accomplishment. Also congrats to Cheri Sullo on her beautiful homebred bitch Sullo's Mirai of Greenwood on her wins this weekend in Massachusets. This gorgeous gal is a 3X linebreeding on Ch. Tominohisamitsu Go Gold Typhoon JP ROM and is a Ch. Hitorq's Jiro Of Sullo and a Dozer grandkid Ch. HiTorq's At Fever Pitch Redsox . We are so excited to see her doing so well and still hoping that one day Cheri will put her in the mail to us :-) We are SOOO proud of our dogs and all of their owners! We have shown time and time again that although we have chosen our imports carefully from selected lines as a foundation, we don't have to constantly import other people's breedings from Japan to have consistant winners and ranked dogs...We breed them here generation after generation ! |

Innisfrees Red October who won Best of Opposite from the Veterans class! Youmee is number 7 in the country and climbing! Just as spectacular was Stewie (Ryuu No Gen Go Shun You Kensha) winning Best in Sweeps at his first show. Stewie flew to the show in a sherpa, walked through the busy DC airport answering many fan questions and got pet so many times he thought his fur was going to fall out...not to mention after the entry was made...His hair DID fall out! I was so proud of this young dog..nothing gets to him! Congrats to Cheri Sullo for winning winners bitch with her puppy bitch out of Jiro (Ch. HiTorq's Jiro of Sullo) and granddaughter to Dozer (Ch. HiTorqs At Fever Pitch ) She was stellar and I wanted to put her in my suitcase to bring her home!!! Nice job Cheri! Nice to see old friends and make new friends...an excellent weekend all the way around! Now I am off to Nepal and India for rest and relaxation! GOOD GOD..I almost forgot the best news of them all...while we were having fun in the rain in Virginia..Ann Gorman and Trixie were kickin' butts and takin' names in NY!!! HiTorq's Trix of the Trade picked up both of her majors this weekend by winning WB/BW and now only needs 1 point to finish her title! Congrats to all involved. Her finishing will give her mommy MeMe her ROM in two litters and will complete an all champion litter!!! I am so proud! |
5/16/09 What an outstanding weekend we had!!! Saturday started with the Classic in Maryland. Stewie (Ryuu No Gen Go Shun You Kensha) took second in his class of 5. Later found out Stewie was in the wrong class and was playing with the mature boys who were 18-2 1/2 years...and he still did well! Fuji Son HiTorq's Yabosami (Laz) took 3rd in a competative Seiken class and got some outstanding comments from exhibitors and the judge alike. Congrats to all the winners. Mr. Iwasa was an excellent mentor for all exhibitors and it was wonderful to see him again after 11 years. (apparently, according to him I have aged since he last saw me LOL! Go figure!!) | 4/2/09 New page pictures of Stewie. At 1 year this young male is maturing very nicely and hopes to ready for the ring in 2009. Many thanks again to Silvia Exposito for sending this boy to the US in an effort to continue his rare lineage in the US. |
| POINT MADE! Maybe one should look inside of themselves and recognize that their behaviors may be why people are so tired of the garbage. PLAY BY THE RULES and act respectably around judges and other competators like every one else has to for a change and see who rises! |
| 4/1/09 Youmee wins two more Best of Breeds at Western PA Kennel Club...Youmee does it all naturally!!.When some breeders/handlers are reaching new lows in promoting dogs...Youmee rises as the cream of the crop. Thank you Dennis and Carol Collins for taking the most professional approach when showing Youmee and allowing her to win on her own merit! Congratulations Leslie Engen of SanJo Shibas for producing a fine shiba that so many love! |
3/20/09 Another great weekend at HiTorq! Youmee wins BOS at Non Sporting supported entry and then does one better by winning Best of Breed on Friday AND Saturday at New Brunwick KC and going on to make the cut in the groups! Youmee bested her BIS winning great grandfather both days! Better news even was Tank's amazing recovery and finish..Announcing new champion Ch. HiTorq's All Revv'd Up..Tanks story is well know and 8 months after his ordeal and recovery, he went to his first dog show with Mark and Debbie Peterson's guidance and won a 5 point major and Best of Winners to finish his title!!! We are so thrilled...so thrilled! Tank is the third in his litter of four to finish! This is Pandy's first breeding and her mommies Sharon Roble and Terri Palumbo are on pins and needles as well as Chris Edwards owner of Mouse! Watch our puppy page for details and pictures! 1/24/09 Congratulations Cha Cha on another daughter winning points in MD Copperdots Jade at Okan was WB/BOS in MD for 3 points last weekend! Congrats to Bonnie Jean Gibbons of Katai Shibas and her two beautiful litters of Dozer pups! We expect great things from this breeding! We are thrilled to announce that Nikko has been placed into his retirement home with the Ingram family. The Ingrams had bought Bronson's half brother Riley from us years ago and sadly he recently passed away. They were looking for a new boy to add joy to their household. Nikko has become the perfect fit and we are so thrilled he has found his final family. He is apparently socializing now with a couple of family cats and doing well. Nikko was always a gentle and loving leader in our family and his woo woo's and smiles are missed but we know the Igrams love him wholeheartely! MeMe, Pandy, Youmee, Fuji, Trixie and Destiny all have passed eye certification this week at the Canine Learning Experience. None of our dogs carry punctate (seed) cataracts. We firmly believe breeding this eye deformity is not in an individual dog's best interest or a future puppy's best interest and will only lead to promotion of inherited juvenile catacts within the breed for the future! Check out CERF for more information. Christmas and new years was a blast in our household and we are all just recovering LOL!...we were fortunate to have Laura Payton Of Fanfair shibas, her daughter Halee and the new baby stay with us for a week and my friend LJ and her parents for another week. We skied non stop, rung in the new year on Main Street in grand style and generally had the time of our lives. Living in a resort town is just too much fun sometimes! Winter is a very busy time at HiTorq ...Since we live in the greatest state on earth with the best snow on earth, the shibas are having a grand time too and taking time away from the show ring for some wintertime fun of cross country skiing and hiking in the feet of snow that have accumulated in Park City this year. Bo Derek has become an avid off leash dog hiking with best buds Jezebel, Stewie and Jeff's labradoodle puppy Loki! Digger is running his first year on good friend Neal Bowlands Husky and Mal sled dog team as he does sledding trips for the stars at Deer Valley Ski resort! Check out Neal for a sled dog ride if you are in the park city area at http://www.pawsatch.com/. Enjoys the pictures...we enjoyed creating them demonstrating there is a need for well rounded balance in a dogs life and that there is more to life with shibas and a Malamute than showing! |
12/7/08 He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." - Gene Hill Tonight....my beloved dog left this world for another. He was without question the greatest creature I have ever had the pleasure to be owned by. Those who knew Bronson, knew he was exceptional from beginning to the end. (That's why he got such a big strong name) He touched countless lives in his short time on this earth in so many ways. Most everyone he has spent time with has a funny tale to share of this incredible dog. He was a ball of fire from the moment he was born on New Years eve in 1994 and never had any intention of ever leaving my side or allowing my life with him to be uneventful. I may have failed him in so many ways through the years, but yet his eyes beheld me with unconditional adoration, excitement and devotion. He has climbed many mountains with me, traveled throughout the US on the consol in my truck, gotten into more trouble than one little shiba could possibly drum up in a lifetime and made me laugh til I cried. I loved him beyond reason...I never really dreamed he would ever leave me or that with life...we were always on borrowed time. In his years, he was my unconditional friend and guardian, my devout companion, my soul mate. We traveled many roads together, matured together, laughed together and shared many tears together. We would sing "Hip Hip Hooray" together and he would give me evey trick he knew to celebrate the happy times and when life was unbearable he was the first to curl up together and just "be" for awhile until the grey skies passed.. He tested my patience, tickled my soul with laughter and left me with countless memories and tales that could fill a novel. I will miss this dog, my friend, with a heart wrenching intensity that cannot be adequately described in a few words. I was ever so lucky to be a part of his world and even though my soul mourns him, the memories of our days together will leave a lasting mark on my heart. Sleep well Bronson...I will miss you...without a question I will miss you.

Thank you judge RC Jeffries for an excellent win. HiTorq dogs swept the breed ring this weekend and we did not even need to buy dogs from the judge or get them assignments at our local kennel club to win.
